Toby Sowery delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona, playing a central role in CrowdStrike Racing by APR’s charge at the front of the LMP2 field.

Racing at Daytona International Speedway, the #04 ORECA 07-Gibson showed strong pace throughout the 24-hour contest, steadily working its way into contention.

Sowery’s impact came at a pivotal stage of the race. Taking over as daylight faded, he immediately produced class-leading lap times, pulling the car back onto the lead lap and taking the car from outside the top ten into the leading group.

A well-timed Full Course Yellow provided the opportunity to capitalise, and Sowery did exactly that, charging into the top four before continuing to push forward into the night.

As the race intensified, he remained firmly in the fight, going wheel-to-wheel with experienced competitors including former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa. A strong restart saw Sowery take the lead of the LMP2 field, underlining both his pace and composure under pressure.

With CrowdStrike Racing by APR firmly in contention heading into the final hours, the team looked well placed for a strong result. However, a late-race incident from one of his team mates, forced repairs and ultimately dropped the #04 entry out of the fight, with the team classified seventh at the chequered flag.

“The Rolex 24 at Daytona is always tough and tends to go the way of those who don’t make any mistakes. Unfortunately, there was one towards the end of the race that we couldn’t recover from. It’s disappointing, but this is endurance racing and I think we’ll learn, apply those lessons to the remaining races and come back even stronger.”
