Toby Sowery and CrowdStrike Racing by APR secured a hard-fought fifth-place finish at the 2026 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, continuing their strong start to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Racing at Sebring International Raceway, widely regarded as the most physically demanding circuit on Sowery’s IMSA racing calendar, the team faced the full intensity of a race defined by its unforgiving and bumpy surface, heavy traffic and relentless pace.
Starting from fifth in class on the grid, the #04 ORECA 07-Gibson showed strong early pace before a mid-race penalty dropped the team down the order. From there, the focus shifted to recovery, with Kurtz steadily working his way back into contention.
Taking over during a critical phase of the race, Sowery immediately made an impact, gaining multiple positions and moving the team back towards the front of the LMP2 field. However, light contact came when another LMP2 car hit Sowery and caused subtle damage to the left-rear, which went undetected at the time. Despite this, Sowery continued to push forward, helping the team climb as high as second before handing over to teammate Alex Quinn for the closing stages.
As the race progressed into its final hours, the impact of the damage began to limit outright pace, preventing the #04 entry from fully capitalising on its earlier progress. Even so, the team remained competitive to the finish, ultimately securing fifth place in class and valuable championship points.
Importantly, Sowery’s performance stood out across the race. Internal B Pillar analysis showed he recorded the fastest average lap time of the three drivers and ranked inside the top five of all LMP2 drivers, across Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, highlighting both his pace and consistency in one of the toughest races on the calendar.
